The Ghana Medical Innovation Expo 2026 has called on Ghanaian innovators to design low-cost medical equipment in partnership with health workers so that devices meet local needs and can be maintained by local engineers. Ghana's Director of the Institutional Care Division stated that the Ghana Health Service is implementing an integrated bed management and referral coordination system to address the shortage of hospital beds, as the country has about one bed per 1,000 people against the WHO recommendation of five.
