Ghana cedi weakens 1.42% against US dollar in two weeks
The Ghana cedi depreciated by 1.42% against the US dollar in the interbank market and 1.45% in the retail market over two weeks, selling at GH¢11.79 and GH¢12.10 respectively, while showing mixed performance against other major currencies. Databank Research attributes the weakness to persistent pre-festive import demand and higher energy costs, but expects potential near-term support from gold sales and Bank of Ghana interventions.
