Ghana Revenue Authority

Also known as: GRA · the Authority

Ghana Revenue Authority — tax collection and compliance agency rolling out digital systems including Modified Taxation System and Publican AI platform to expand revenue from informal sector and formal businesses.

The Ghana Revenue Authority has launched a digital Modified Taxation System with mobile shortcode *880# to extend tax compliance to informal sector traders and small businesses in the Ashanti Region, aiming to boost revenue from a sector that contributes over a quarter of GDP but less than 5% of tax receipts. The Authority is also promoting voluntary compliance during Tax and Good Governance Month while introducing an AI-powered Publican platform for modernised tax administration, though the Chartered Institute of Taxation has flagged concerns about import duty increases and operational bottlenecks.
