The Ministry of the Interior has condemned the assault of a person in police custody and directed the Inspector-General of Police to investigate how civilians accessed the detainee and which officers may have facilitated access. The Ministry stressed that arrested persons in state custody are entitled to legal protection, and has ordered identification and arrest of those who carried out the assault.

The Minister directed police to identify any officers who facilitated or permitted the breach, take disciplinary action against those found culpable, and arrest and investigate the civilians allegedly involved.
