Parliament's Finance Committee chairman Isaac Adongo has warned that Ghana risks weakening its petroleum revenue watchdog, the Public Interest and Accountability Committee, unless its funding is secured by legislation. The concern follows the abolition of the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA), which previously financed PIAC's operations.

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) celebrated 15 years of monitoring government compliance with petroleum revenue management laws and promoting public participation and independent assessments to support Parliament and Executive oversight. PIAC Chairman Richard Ellimah said the Committee pursues its mandate through reports, project inspections, public engagement and policy discussions on petroleum revenue management.
