Libya's airspace reopens after eleven years of UN restrictions
The UN's International Civil Aviation Organisation has lifted airspace restrictions it imposed on Libya in 2015 during the country's civil war. Libya's Transport Ministry said the decision reflects progress in the civil aviation sector and expects a surge in international airline transit permits, with 61,968 flights per month projected for the 2026-2027 winter season, up from an average of 2,000 per month in the prior season.
