The Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism has commended the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority for efforts to attract quality investments and pledged support for reforms under the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Act, 2023, which expand GIPA's role to promote investment across regions and facilitate Ghanaian investments abroad, while removing blanket minimum capital requirements for foreign investors except in the trading sector.
About 300 graduates from Ghana Communication Technology University were advised to become ethical leaders and innovators to drive Ghana's digital economy. The Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission warned that graduates must use AI to enhance their capabilities rather than depend on it entirely, and cautioned that Ghana risks becoming "digitally active without becoming digitally powerful" if it continues to rely heavily on foreign technologies.
President Mahama has signed the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Act, 2026, transforming the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) into the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA). The new law expands the Authority's mandate to attract, facilitate, promote and retain investments, introduces reforms including removal of minimum capital requirements for wholly foreign-owned enterprises, establishes an Investor Grievance Mechanism and One-Stop Shop, and aligns Ghana's investment regime with regional and international standards including AfCFTA.
Ghana's two-day National Flood Aftermath Clean up Exercise, launched by President Mahama following devastating June 29 floods, demonstrated citizens' collective capacity for environmental action and exposed persistent sanitation problems that must be addressed to sustain the gains achieved.

The findings documented buildings erected without qualified engineers, deficient foundation design, and construction projects lacking approved plans or valid permits.
The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council says prank calls and circulation of fake flood videos are disrupting rescue operations and diverting emergency resources from genuine victims of flooding in the Greater Accra Region. The council states that emergency response agencies have been inundated with false distress reports, forcing them to expend time and resources on non-existent emergencies.
The Ghana Institution of Engineering has called for urgent overhaul of Ghana's stormwater management policies, warning that the country's existing drainage infrastructure is no longer capable of addressing challenges posed by rapid urbanisation, climate variability and increasing flood risks. The institution noted that flooding in Accra and other cities had become more frequent and severe over the past decade, with many drains clogged by solid waste and reduced hydraulic capacity.
