WHO reports 3.8% of Ghanaian adults considered suicide
The World Health Organisation says 3.8 per cent of adults in Ghana have considered suicide and 2.3 per cent have attempted suicide, with suicidal thoughts particularly common among young people. The WHO has called for intensified prevention efforts and stronger support systems, commending Ghana's 2023 decriminalisation of attempted suicide as a shift from punishment to care.
