A fire at Albert Bosomtwi-Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi on Sunday, June 21 destroyed a premix fuel station, GPHA administration facilities, and other properties; the Western Regional Minister has ordered suspension of commercial activities and evacuation of traders from the Food Market and surrounding areas. Ghana National Fire Service investigations attribute the fire to heavy rainfall that triggered a mudslide, collapsing a slope that brought down an electricity pole which fell between premix fuel tanks and generated igniting sparks.

The Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson stated that all residents displaced by recent floods in Samreboi are receiving shelter, food, and other relief support through a coordinated response involving the district assembly, NADMO, and other stakeholders. The floods displaced more than 2,000 residents, and the Minister confirmed that mattresses, bedding, and food items have been distributed while more supplies continue to be mobilised.
