GIS launches Operation Secure Our Borders public-private project

The Ghana Immigration Service's Governing Council is pushing for Operation Secure Our Borders (SECOBOR), a public-private sector initiative to address the service's resource and welfare challenges. The Council Chair briefed President Mahama that weak border control exposes Ghana to smuggling, human trafficking, and illicit trade, and proposed the GIS retain 80% of its internally generated funds for five years to address gaps in accommodation, vehicles, and equipment.
