Ghana's Energy Minister announced that the K1-K2 Transmission Line Upgrade Project, currently in final construction, will replace the existing 364MVA line with a 2x488MVA double-circuit system, more than doubling transmission capacity to 978MVA for Kumasi and the Ashanti Region. GRIDCo will also upgrade a transformer at Kumasi (Ahodwo) Substation from 66MVA to 145MVA.
