The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has relaunched its "Samansaman" sanitation enforcement exercise as of Monday, July 6, 2026, with a joint task force of environmental health officers, Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police personnel patrolling selected areas to arrest individuals and institutions violating sanitation regulations. During the crackdown, about five officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Dechemso were arrested after the task force found the church's frontage in an unsanitary condition.

The Automated Neonatal Exchange Transfusion System, developed by KNUST students and led by Dr Prince Odame, won top innovation at the British Council's ASCEND showcase in Accra. More than 20 student-led teams from Ghana and Nigeria presented solutions in healthcare, agriculture, renewable energy and environmental monitoring after receiving mentoring and business development support through the ASCEND programme.
