National Disaster Management Organisation — agency providing relief and emergency response in disasters including flooding, tidal waves, and storm incidents across Ghana.

NADMO has responded to multiple disaster events across Ghana, distributing relief to tidal wave victims in Anlo District and participating in rescue and recovery operations following a drowning in a quarry pit in Mpobi. The organization continues to conduct damage assessments and provide support in areas affected by heavy rainfall and flooding, including Keta Township in the Volta Region.

    Hours of heavy rainfall in Keta, Volta Region, in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, submerged parts of the township, displacing residents and destroying property including furniture, foodstuffs, electronics, and clothing.     Kwame Owusu, a 20-year-old water tanker attendant, drowned in a water-filled quarry pit at MMM Quarry Limited in Mpobi while swimming as the tanker was being filled.     A 20-year-old water tanker attendant, Kwame Owusu, drowned in a water-filled quarry pit at Mpobi in the Afigya Kwabre South District after entering the water to swim while the tanker was being filled; his body was recovered nearly 24 hours later following an intensive search by NADMO, the Ghana National Fire Service, and police.

  2. Search for body of drowned tanker attendant continues in Ashanti

    Community members and security agencies are searching for the body of a 20-year-old water tanker attendant, Kwame Owusu, who drowned in a quarry pit at Mpobi in the Afigya Kwabre South District on Tuesday. Owusu entered the deep pit to swim while the tanker was being filled and was suddenly dragged beneath the water; rescue teams from NADMO, the Fire Service, and Police have been deployed.
