UK High Commissioner alleges scholarship funds mismanaged by previous government
Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom has alleged widespread mismanagement of government scholarship funds under the previous administration, claiming excessive spending on dependants of scholarship beneficiaries contributed to millions of pounds in unpaid tuition and stipends owed to Ghanaian students. She cited instances including allowances and airfares for spouses and children, and alleged that more than £37 million in tuition fees and stipends accumulated between 2020 and 2025.
