Ghana passes Maritime Offences Bill to combat sea crimes
Ghana has passed the Maritime and Related Offences Bill, 2026, which awaits Presidential assent and aims to provide a comprehensive legal framework for preventing, investigating, and prosecuting piracy, armed robbery at sea, trafficking, and other maritime crimes. The Ghana Maritime Authority, in collaboration with the UN and EU, is engaging stakeholders to build understanding of the legislation ahead of its implementation.
