New personalised vaccine prevents melanoma recurrence in trial
A personalised vaccine called Intismeran, developed by Merck and Moderna, combined with the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, extended the time cancer-free in patients with high-risk melanoma after surgery during a phase three trial of over 1,000 patients. Cancer experts call it a breakthrough but caution that full results remain unpublished and unreviewed, and the treatment would still require regulatory approval before becoming available.
