More than 25,000 candidates from 30 public senior high schools in Ghana's Northern Region have begun the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, running from 7 April to 15 June, with exams held at 31 centres across the region. The Regional Education Director urged students to approach the exams with confidence and integrity, warning against examination malpractice.

Final-year SHS students across Ghana have begun the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, with 509,862 candidates (225,274 males and 284,588 females) expected to sit nationwide. This marks the first simultaneous Oral English exercise across all WAEC member countries and the full return to the May–June academic calendar after COVID-19 disruptions.

The Wenchi District Court has remanded four suspects—Yakubu Abuu, Ibrahim Ahmed, Ibrahim Abdallah and Abass Saliki—into police custody for alleged robbery, assault, causing harm and conspiracy. They were arrested in connection with an attack on a businessman and his apprentice near Nsawkaw on May 7, 2026, in which GH₵200,000 was stolen.
