The Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG) has given government a two-week ultimatum to implement the 20% deprived-area allowance for teachers or face industrial actions. PRETAG previously suspended a threatened strike in late July following intervention by the Ghana Education Service and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, but has now set an end-of-August deadline.

The Ghana Association of University Administrators at KNUST has declared an indefinite strike effective Monday, August 10, protesting allowance disparities and poor working conditions. Non-teaching staff report that the highest-ranked administrators receive nearly 50 per cent less in allowances than the lowest-ranked teaching staff, affecting welfare and service delivery across administrative offices.
