The Ghana Association of University Administrators has launched an indefinite strike from August 10, 2026, citing unfair disparities in allowances between teaching and non-teaching staff in public universities. GAUA General Secretary Charles Kojo Aidoo highlighted that assistant lecturers receive market premiums of about GH¢7,400 while university registrars and directors of finance receive approximately GH¢6,000.
