A travel and tour agent has been remanded into custody for allegedly collecting GH¢107,000 from a civil servant and relatives under the pretext of securing their recruitment into Ghana's security services, including the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, Immigration Service, and Revenue Authority. Ghana Police arrested five suspected members of an armed robbery gang accused of attacking gold dealers and mining sites across Ashanti and Western regions between August and September 4, 2026; one suspect died during operations, and police recovered three AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition. Ghana Police Service linked a suspected robbery syndicate, whose planned attack on banks at Labone in Accra was foiled, to at least two earlier attacks on bank customers in Tema and Achimota.
