The Ministry of Health says discussions with the contractor for the Weija Children's Hospital focused on securing the facility's handover to allow government to begin preparations to open it. The Health Ministry spokesperson said the government's immediate priority is to take control of the completed portions and operationalise the facility.

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has dismissed reports that the government intends to discontinue Agenda 111, clarifying that the government is phasing the projects rather than abandoning them. The minister noted that GH¢4.8 billion has been invested so far but completion of all projects would require more than GH¢20 billion, necessitating a phased implementation strategy under which 35 hospitals have been selected for the first phase.
