An international study of over 30,000 journalists across 75 countries found that African journalists operate under significantly higher levels of political, commercial and personal pressure than their global counterparts, with Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia and Sierra Leone identified as countries where political pressure exceeds the global average, while safety concerns including surveillance, hacking and sexual harassment in newsrooms are reported at two to three times higher rates than globally.
